1.  3MT 2021 launch

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a research communication competition that challenges doctoral researchers to explain their research and its significance in just three minutes with just a single slide and no props. It is a great way to hone your skills in responding to the question of What is your research about? in a succinct and engaging way.

This year’s SHU 3MT competition will be via video entry with a heat stage in early May and the final during the Creating Knowledge Conference 22-25 June 2021.  Support and guidance will be provided throughout the process, starting with briefing sessions over the next few weeks (details to follow).  To enter you will need to submit a title and short abstract by 16 April 2021 via the 3MT Expression of Interest form (link in Friday email)

2.  SHU PGR Peer Mentoring initiative

The SHU PGR Peer Mentoring initiative has been established in response to findings from a study on PGR wellbeing undertaken by the Sheffield Hallam Student Union and the Hallam Guild-funded PGR Mental Health and Wellbeing focus groups that have fed into the SHU PGR Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy.

We are pleased to launch the first ever systematic, university-wide opportunity for PGR peer mentoring, supporting the needs of PGR students who are wishing to be mentored and providing a development opportunity for PGR student mentors.  If you would like to take part in the initiative, please see the Peer Mentoring Info Site for further information and sign up as a mentor and/or mentee via the PGR mentoring Expression of Interest Form (link in Friday email) by Friday 19 March 2021
