Numeracy and Literacy Testing

Pre-entry QTS Skills Tests

All applicants to Initial Teacher Training need to pass literacy and numeracy skills tests before starting a course. Please visit the Department of Education website www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/apply-for-teacher-training/skills-tests for more information including how to register and book onto the skills tests.

The deadline for passing these is given in your formal offer letter. When you have passed your skills tests please send an email to confirm this, including your UCAS personal ID number to teachingadmissions@shu.ac.uk. You should also contact teaching admissions if you think that you cannot meet the deadline you have been given, as this may be extended in some circumstances.
