There are manly opportunities available to you whilst you are here at Sheffield Hallam University, including becoming a Student Representative or a Department Representative!

What is a Student Rep?

A Student Rep is a Course Representative that speaks to their fellow students about any issues on their course. Each academic year students have the opportunity to elect one or more Course Representatives for each year of their course. Course Reps gather feedback from their fellow students and take this forward to enhance the course experience.

There are many benefits to becoming a student representative:

  • Make a difference.
  • Direct input into the quality of your education.
  • An increased understanding of the University.
  • Assisting peers with course related issues.
  • The chance to put student views on the University agenda.

What is a Department Rep?

As a Department Rep you will be a voice for students in your department and faculty, working with Course Reps to ensure student feedback is heard at appropriate levels. You will work to improve the student experience at Sheffield Hallam in partnership with the university, Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union and other students .
