PhD Survival Video Screening and Discussion

28 September 2022 @ 10:00 - 11:15

Doing a PhD is meant to be challenging, and most doctoral students feel overwhelmed by the task at times. But many find that their work – and their lives – are compromised by feelings of loneliness, inadequacy or anxiety.  The consequences can be abandoned PhDs, disrupted careers and damaged mental health.

Please join us for a screening of ‘The PhD Survival Video’ which discusses how the stress and pressure of a PhD can be made manageable.  Anna Jarvis, Wellbeing Promotion and Early Intervention Lead in the University’s Wellbeing Services will give a short presentation on the wellbeing support available to doctoral students and there will be time for discussion/Q&A.

This session will cover:

* Self-help strategies for doctoral students

* What they should, and should not, expect from supervisors when they are struggling

* The support available within Sheffield Hallam
