HRI Methodology Seminar Series

Speaker: Dr Sadiq Bhanbhro

Sadiq is an interdisciplinary researcher with over 17 years of experience in Higher Education in the UK and abroad. He draws on expertise in anthropology, public health,  and sociology. His educational background includes a PhD in Social Sciences (SHU), MPH (ScHARR), an MSc in Public Health, specialising in Social and Health Protection (Poland) and an MSc in Anthropology (Pakistan).

Sadiq joined Sheffield Hallam University as a research fellow in 2012 and was promoted to senior research fellow in 2018. Sadiq is PI for the GCRF project on gender and climate risks and co-I on the UKRI-AHRC funded project “Nursing Narratives: Racism and the Pandemic”. His research area is Public Health, focusing on health inequalities, EDI in health and social care research, gender-based violence (particularly honour-based abuse), and racism in the health and social care sector.

Researchers are considered “duty bearers” who uphold fundamental ethical principles for maintaining ethical integrity in research culture, systems, processes, and knowledge generation, dissemination, and its impact. Therefore, it is their responsibility to adhere to the fundamental principles of Equality, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EEDI) in research to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, characteristics, or circumstances, are involved in research and innovation. This seminar aims to provide an overview of EEDI essentials and how to incorporate them into all aspects of research
