Speakers – Frankie Fair & Charlotte Nutting on: Lessons learnt from undertaking different types of reviews: scoping review and overview of systematic reviews

‘Lessons learnt from undertaking different types of reviews: scoping review and overview of systematic reviews’

We will start this seminar by briefly outlining different types of reviews. Charlotte will then talk about scoping reviews: what they are, when to use, what is involved and reflections on lessons learnt. Frankie will then provide an overview of systematic reviews: how to undertake one and challenges encountered.

Charlotte Nutting is a 2nd year PhD student at Sheffield Hallam University and La Trobe University. She qualified as a Learning Disability Nurse and Social Worker in 2011, and her professional interests include the application of capacity and equality legislation by professionals who support people who have an Intellectual Disability. The title of Charlotte’s PhD is ‘An investigation of the process of Radiotherapy as perceived by people with Intellectual Disabilities who have cancer, their family members, paid carers, and the professionals that support them: A Constructivist Grounded Theory Study’.

Frankie Fair is a registered midwife, qualifying in 2009. Frankie joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2014 as a research assistant. Frankie’s research particularly focuses on reducing inequalities and enhancing quality of care for women from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds, such as migrants and women from ethnic minorities. Her research has also covered topics around maternal nutrition, breastfeeding and midwife led care. Frankie has a MSc in Clinical Research and is currently a final year PhD student looking into weight management during pregnancy among women with obesity.
