BSA event: Designing & Undertaking Participatory Research | Wednesday 9 December | 1100-1700

9 December 2020 @ 11:00 - 17:00

This is an online event bringing together researchers working with or interested in participatory research approaches. This Regional Event will bring together sociologists, who are pioneering participatory approaches and research methods, to share their ideas, expertise and experiences of designing and conducting participatory research.  It will be a forum to discuss best practice, practical issues, ethical issues and the successes and challenges of this approach.  It will also explore this in relation to academic frameworks, and the practical issues of using participatory approaches within academic structures.

This online workshop is a one-day event which has been adapted from a face-to-face conference that had been scheduled to take place earlier this year.  It will consist of three webinars each featuring a panel of speakers followed by a Q&A.  Each speaker will have 10 minutes to present their research and will explore different aspects of using participatory methods.  Participants are welcome to attend all three webinars or choose just one or two.  The day will conclude with a workshop (which will be capped at 30 people) in which participants will be able to discuss and share their experiences of using participatory methods facilitated through guided discussions.  Places will be allocated first come, first served.  You can register for the workshop when you register for the event.

This is a British Sociological Society event organised by Ruth Beresford – free for members, £10 non-members and further information and the booking form can be found on the BSA Event details link .
