The Friendly Writing Feedback Group is run by postgraduate students on a regular basis and aims to provide constructive, but friendly, feedback in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Two people usually submit 1 piece of writing each (approx 2,000 words each) a week before the session, and everyone in the group provides them with feedback on their chosen elements of their submission. During the sessions there is space to ask for clarifications or have informal discussions. Students have been submitting a variety of writing e.g. sections of articles, reports for supervisors, sections of chapters or conference papers. All SHU PGRs are welcome, you don’t have to submit writing to attend and you’re welcome to come along to see what it is all about first.
Please email Ruth Squire to be added to the mailing list for updates.
To submit a piece of writing:
- sign up on the Google sheet putting your name in a free slot and telling us roughly the planned length of your piece.
- send your writing by email to Ruth Squire by the deadline on the Google sheet and specify the type of feedback you think will be most useful at the start of your submission.
Dates for 2021
The group also meets virtually for writing retreats following Rowena Murray’s writing structure.
