What they did:

They faced significant challenges during their university journey. Initially, they were an outstanding, energetic, and dedicated student who had built strong connections with her course colleagues. However, in her second year, she contracted COVID-19, leading to subsequent health issues. After a prolonged and challenging process, they were diagnosed with long COVID and had to undergo treatment at a specialist clinic.
Despite managing to complete their second year, their health and life circumstances underwent a drastic change, forcing her to defer her studies. They returned in September 2023 to complete their third year, joining a new cohort and actively seeking to establish new relationships while reengaging with contemporary practices. Despite using a walking stick and experiencing extreme fatigue, they persevered, maintaining their commitment to their academic pursuits.

What was the impact?

They have become a strong advocate for disability rights and awareness, implementing effective strategies to navigate her challenges.Despite their own difficulties, they goes above and beyond their role, extending support in diverse situations. They promotes the course positively, advocates for the work being done, and serves as a constant source of support for her fellow students.. Their positive attitude shines through as they consistently achieves excellent grades and remains actively involved in various projects.

How it inspired others

Their resilience and accomplishments are truly commendable, and they serves as an inspiration to others, showcasing the power of determination and a positive mindset. I am incredibly proud of their achievements and the positive impact they continue to have on their academic community.

Cara-Leigh Jones

What they did:

Cara-Leigh is a great example of a student rep, she is attending all the meetings to deliver her voice for her class and all her peers. She has a passion for changing anything to make the student experience to be the best. She deserves to be awarded for that.

What was the impact?

Her voice had a great impact on changing the student experience, for example: by starting a the idea collaboration society between courses to gain experience from that and working on IT resources to improve their efficiency.

How it inspired others

That inspired lots of students to have a voice to provide feedback and work on the solution as well as collaboration between students to improve their experience.
