The Doctoral School is pleased to bring you information about events coming up from the Doctoral School and the Sheffield Hallam Researcher Development (SHaRD) Programme in February and March.

In February we continue our Shut Up and Write! sessions which are open to staff and doctoral students, the Library Research Support Team are offering drop-in sessions about the Elements publications management system, the Converis team are holding Ethics training sessions and we finish the month with our Induction day for new Doctoral students.

At the beginning of March the University is hosting two Doctoral Training Alliance Energy electives for students linked to Energy and Society and Photovoltaic Technology and applications to the society.  Whilst aimed primarily at DTA students, these events are open to SHU staff and students who are interested in the area.  We also have sessions on Professional Development Planning using the RDF Planner system and another Shut Up and Write! session.  We are also repeating our Doctoral Examiner training for staff where you can learn more about the role of an Examiner.  Mid-month we have a workshop on Dealing with Data, a topic which impacts all students and researchers.  The Students Union is hosting an event looking at Women’s and Gender History as part of the Women’s History month and we close the month with a workshop on Preparing your Three Minute Thesis (3MT) presentation.

Please visit the Events calendar for further information on the sessions and the booking links to reserve your place.

Looking ahead, the Creating Knowledge research conference will take place on Monday 17 June and the call for abstracts is open.  You can submit your abstract for an oral presentation via our google form on https://goo.gl/forms/IW2MFmG2hChwysyd2.  The closing date for submission of abstracts is 12 noon on Friday 22 March.
