There was an excellent turnout for the latest symposium organised by doctoral students in Sport and Health. Chaired by Martin Lamb, a PhD student with the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science, four speakers gave presentations on their research, and parallel surgeries explored different aspects of doctoral study.The speakers were:
- Walter Tasosa: Alcohol use among Zimbabwean migrants living in the UK
- Caroline Adams: Measuring the quasi-static stiffness of snowboard wrist protectors
- Ben Thomas: Experiences of people with dementia trying to keep warm at home in winter
- Andy Hext: Measuring straight time in elite short track speed skating relays
And surgeries looked at:
- Writing a thesis: the challenges of motivation, structure and coherence – Laura Evans
- Participant recruitment and adherence – Hsiaopu Yeh
- Developing a coherent research programme: bringing quantitative and qualitative work together – Katie Marvin-Dowle
