2.PubhD – 16 December 2020  | 1900- 2130

PubhD offers students in Sheffield an opportunity to try their hands at public engagement by explaining their PhDs in 10 minutes and facing questions from a varied and diverse audience.

There’s no boring Powerpoints here, just words and a flipchart.  Whilst the organisers would normally invite you to the pub, they’ve moved online for obvious reasons.  So why not join them at 7pm on Wednesday 16 December via Google Hangouts, from the comfort of your own couch, drink in hand, ready to learn.

For more information, check out their website and social media via the following links:

You can book your place on the PubhD Booking Link

3.WriteFest 2020 | final week

As we go into Week 4 of WriteFest there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved and celebrate academic writing.

You can participate as much or as little as you’d like in a number of different ways – from workshops on specific aspects of writing and publishing to less formal café conversations about academic writing. Coming up next week you’ve got snack and scribble to get you in the writing mood on Monday morning; discussions about getting creative and co-writing; a full day writing retreat on Tuesday and the regular 2-hour productivity slot on Thursday. The Library Research Support Team are talking about Open Access Publishing and the Creative Writing Masterclass is on The Painful Knots of Stories.

You can see the calendar of events on the WriteFest pages on the Doctoral School Blog site and follow our Twitter feed @SHUDocSchool.

There are also lots of resources that you can browse through at your own pace, via the WriteFest resources page
