BMRC doctoral researcher Mootaz Salman has had a number of successes in securing travel and conference grants, including the Guarantors of Brain Travel Award of £800, an award from the Company of Biologists Travel Fund (Society of Experimental Biology; £450) and the British Pharmacological Society Bain Memorial Bursary Fund support of £274. Additionally, he was invited by the Japanese Neuroscience Society to give a talk at the 39th Annual Meeting of the Japan Neuroscience Society (Neuroscience 2016). This invitation waives his registration fees and the cost of JNS membership.
Mootaz was one of only 20 participants (from more than 170 applicants) to attend the CAJAL advanced neuroscience training programme, and was awarded a full CAJAL stipend to cover his participation.
Mootaz has also been invited to be a member of the organising committee and a keynote speaker in the Young Investigator Forum at the 10th International Conference on Neuroscience and Neurochemistry to be held in Amsterdam on February 27-28, 2017.
