Welcome Back to Campus

This session is an opportunity for us to get together in CCRI’s dedicated research student space and start to re-establish a PGR working culture and community on campus, post-lockdown and following the university restructure that created the Culture and Creativity Research Institute.

We will convene in Harmer 2418 so we can occupy the space together and see its potential. we will discuss what you would like from this environment and work towards an agreed plan for its management and use so we can get the best out of our space.   

In the second half of the session, we will take a walk around City Campus together to identify other study and research facilities of relevance to CCRI research students.

Harmer 2418 was refurbished to our specifications and to a good standard in Autumn 2019.  It has fantastic daylight and a wonderful view across Sheffield towards Park Hill.  There are lockers that you can use to securely store books and personal items and cupboards and shelving to create a shared library.  There is easy access to a shared kitchen, to MFD printer/copiers located on Harmer level 4, the new Atrium facilities, and the Learning Centre.  Currently there is a mixture of study spaces with desktop PCs, benches where you can dock a laptop and tables to lay work out on.

Plan to bring something with you to 2418 to help us feel at home in our space – a postcard for the pinboard, a poster, a journal article or artists book for our library, or a potted plant (if you will remember to water it). 

Harmer 2418 is open now – plan to visit and see the space before the 17^th (if you can) so that you can contribute to a discussion about what you would like from the space.  Please email culture-creativity-pgr@shu.ac.uk for the door entry code if you are a CCRI PGR student or supervisor and have not already received it.

This session is for All CCRI PGRs: full-time, part-time and all disciplines.  Supervisors would also be most welcome.
