Induction Series: Doctoral School Welcome Event

We will be running a series of online induction events for new PGR students beginning their studies from February 2024.  These events are also open to students who may not have attended them previously during their induction. This University-wide doctoral welcome session will introduce new starters to the life of a Sheffield Hallam doctoral researcher and provide orientation on a number of key elements relating to doctoral study. It is the perfect opportunity to virtually meet with staff involved in supporting your studies and other doctoral researchers from across the University.

We will be running breakout rooms within the session, so that you can have discussions in smaller groups and get to know each other a little better.

The session will be quite informal and we will be concentrating on the following topics:

· Welcome and introductions

· The Doctoral School

· Life as a doctoral student

· How things work/where to find support

· Connecting with the Sheffield Hallam Doctoral Community

A more detailed schedule for the welcome session will be added to the Research Degrees Blackboard site in the next few days. There will also be supplementary information within the Induction folder of the Research Degrees Blackboard site, which you are encouraged to view following the live session.
