Film and Television Research Group – First Event
7 April 2022 @ 17:00 - 19:00
Expressions of interest are welcomed from colleagues in all parts of the university interested in joining the new Film and Television Research Group.
The group is aligned with the Centre for Culture, Media and Society (CCMS) but membership is open to everyone with relevant interests, irrespective of affiliation with particular research centres or academic departments, or indeed membership of other research groups.
The group aims to bring together researchers from across the university who are bound together by a broad interest in film, television and related screen media. It will serve as a forum for staff and postgraduate students with these cognate interests to share their research, form contacts and identify potential opportunities for interdisciplinary, intradepartmental dialogue and collaboration, and also to share research, knowledge and practice; to present and gain feedback on current and developing projects; to identify and discuss funding and knowledge transfer opportunities; and to explore opportunities for developing collaborative projects. It will hold regular events linked to topics of current research interest, accessible to staff and postgraduate students in all areas. It is hoped that many of these events will be accompanied by public screenings of films related to current research projects, which will be held in the university’s purpose-built cinema, The Void.
The group’s first research event will be held online, from 1700 – 1900 on Thursday 7 April, as part of the Contemporary Conversations in Culture, Media and Society seminar series. You can register to attend via Eventbrite
The group very much hope you will join them for both of these inaugural events. They ask that anyone wishing to affiliate with the research group completes a short Google Form, which can be found here: https://forms.gle/u9mhc2Ho6MYkreJv8.
