Researcher Question Time: “I am worthy!” – Overcoming ‘Impostor Syndrome’ in Academic Research

6 December 2016 @ 10:00 - 11:00

This event is part of a series of discussion events aimed at all doctoral and early career researchers. Join us to discuss key themes and put your questions to a panel of SHU academics.

This session will focus on dealing with imposter syndrome as an academic researcher. If you have ever questioned your ‘worthiness’ as a researcher then this session will be of interest.

Our panellists will address questions from the audience, drawing on their own personal and professional experiences. The format is based on BBC Question Time but in simplified form.

The panel consists of:

  • Professor Helen Richardson, Professor of Gender and Organisation (via Skype)
  • Dr Christine Le Maitre, Reader in Musculoskeletal Diseases
  • Dr John Nicholson, Reader in Strategic Management
  • Dr Kathy Doherty, Head of Programme Area for Postgraduate Research in C3RI and MERI

You are also invited to submit questions relating to the above theme(s) in advance, of which a selection will be put live to the panel on the day. Please fill in the appropriate section of the registration form.

The session will take place in Stoddart 7139.

We look forward to seeing you on the day. If you require any further information, please get in touch at doctoralschool@shu.ac.uk
