28 June 2018 @ 13:00 - 16:00
The Doctoral School would like to invite all doctoral research students who began their studies in May to attend an induction session. This will cover the essentials to get you started and signpost you to the various teams who will be able to provide support throughout your doctoral journey.
The timetable is currently being finalised and will be provided to all attendees shortly – but includes the following sessions:
- What is Doctoral Research,
- Research Ethics and Integrity,
- The RFs – Progression Processes,
- Doctoral Skills Training,
- Building the Doctoral School Community,
- Getting the Most Out of Supervision,
- Library Support for Researchers
All new-starting PhD and Professional Doctorate researchers at Sheffield Hallam University are expected to attend.
Please complete our online Ethics 1 course before attending the event (via the Research Degrees blackboard organisation site to which you will be attached). This will provide you with the background information necessary to engage in the ethics session.
Please direct queries to doctoralschool@shu.ac.uk
Whilst this session is aimed at students with a May start date, anyone who missed the induction session which ran in February 2018 is welcome to attend.
