19 January 2017 – Redress ‘EcoChic Design Award’ Educators Workshop & Fashion Academy
Reader in Fashion, Dr Alison Gwilt, invites SHU staff and students to a free one-day fashion workshop on 19 January 2017 that aims to inspire through the positive power of fashion.
The event is organised by Redress, a Hong Kong based environment NGO working in the fashion industry, in collaboration with hosts, ADRC and Sheffield Institute of Arts. As the only UK university hosting the academy, Sheffield Hallam University is part of a network of institutes across Asia, Europe, India and the USA who are supporting designers and students enter the international EcoChic Design Award.
At this event designers will be informed about the environmental impact of the fashion industry and be able to experiment with sustainable design techniques including zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction.
The day involves an Educators Workshop, Student Fashion Academy and pop-up exhibition and screening of the Redress ‘Frontline Fashion’ documentary at the SIA Post Hall – to find out more or RSVP to reserve a place, visit here.
