Student work from Lab4Living showcased in both Harrogate and Netherlands
Lab4Living has always recognised the integral relationship between research and teaching and seeks to inspire the next generation of design/health researchers. Students from across Sheffield Hallam University regularly work with staff at the Lab and have actively contributed to a number of research projects.
Three of these students from the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing were recently invited to share their work at high profile events. Connie Kendall, who was on placement with the Lab in 2015, was successful in gaining a place at the College of Occupational Therapists conference in Harrogate where she gave a poster presentation based on her experience of being on placement at Lab4Living.
Occupational Therapy students Siana and Emma were invited to speak to over 300 people in Limburg about the value of designing dementia-friendly cities based on their experience of being involved in the Power of Sheffield Journeys research undertaken by Lab4Living in partnership with Jayne Wallace at Northumbria University.
Of the invitations Claire Craig said, ‘We are incredibly proud of the students we work with and the energy they invest in the work. The success of these occupational therapy students is a great example of how our two faculties are working together at every level and I look forward to exploring further opportunities in the future.’
