REVEAL project showcased at EU Digital Assembly 2018 in Sofia
REVEAL was selected by the European Commission to be showcased at the EU’s highly prestigious Digital Assembly 2018 event in Sofia at the end of June. The Digital Assembly is an annual forum for stakeholders to debate, take stock and look ahead at how Europe and its partners around the world are preparing for the main digital policy challenges ahead.
The REVEAL team (Dr Jake Habgood, Reader in Game Development at Sheffield Hallam University and Professor Simon Andrews, Professor of Conceptual Structures in Computer Science at Sheffield Hallam University) took the latest PlayStation VR equipment all the way to Bulgaria to showcase versions of the project’s two PSVR titles: “The Chantry” and “A Night at the Forum”. The team received great feedback at the event and was able to demonstrate REVEAL alongside some of the very best research projects from across Europe.
REVEAL is a Horizon 2020 research project that is pioneering the use of PlayStation®VR for innovative educational applications which engage world-wide audiences in Europe’s rich historical and scientific heritage. The project has already created its first PlayStation®VR title based on the home of Dr. Edward Jenner, the 18th century scientist credited with the discovery of vaccination. This will be released for the PlayStation 4 in Europe this summer. The second title based on the Imperial Forum in Rome will be published next year.
