Peter Spence – Archives and Collections Visiting Fellow at the University of East Anglia

Peter Spence (Senior Lecturer in Film & Television) has been successful in his application to the Archives and Collections Visiting Fellowship scheme at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. As well as the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and British Archive for Contemporary Writing, the UEA is also home to the East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA) where Peter will focus his research. The outcome of the visiting fellowship, which will take place this August, will be an archive-based film about the fenland region of East Anglia in the contemporary context of climate change.


Peter Spence teaches film theory on the BA Film and TV Production and MA Filmmaking courses at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds an MA Screen Arts (Sheffield Hallam) and BA (Hons) Politics and History (Queen Mary, University of London) and is currently studying for his PhD. His film and written research outputs have been presented at international conferences and published by peer review.

Peter is also an award-winning film-maker whose work has screened widely on the international festival circuit including Toronto WWSFF, Hamburg, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Sydney, Edinburgh, Cambridge and the London Short Film Festival. His work has received funding and support from the UK Film Council, the British Council, the David Lean Foundation and Screen Yorkshire.
