Lab4Living – Claire Craig facilitates at the Internet of Things week in Lisbon
This week Claire Craig facilitated a workshop exploring the role of creative practice in understanding user experience as part of the Internet of Things Week Lisbon. The workshop was part of a larger session organised by Marita Holst of the European Network of Living Labs, which considered approaches to citizen engagement in the design processes of Smart city services.
Claire had the opportunity to share work that she has been undertaking with Paul Chamberlain and Matt Dexter in relation to design, telehealth and telecare as part of the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC). The importance of hearing the voice of people using technologies was a significant theme arising throughout the week which included sessions on the IOT roadmaps for embedded systems and Industrial IOT, discussion of the strategic research and innovation agenda and debate around IOT privacy and society.
The week comes at a key point in the development of IOT – the publication of the Digital Single Market Strategy by Europe and the growing recognition of IOT in relation to healthy cities and e-health.
