Esther Johnson’s ‘Abstractions of Holderness’ screening at Hull’s UK City of Culture festival – February 2017

Esther Johnson’s new film Abstractions of Holderness to screen with BBC Concert Orchestra as part of Hull 2017.

Abstractions of Holderness is an audio-visual work inspired by Basil Kirchin’s 1970s residency in East Yorkshire. The music for the film is scored by Saint Etienne and will premiere during Mind on the Run: The Basil Kirchin Story, a 3-day festival as part of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture programme.

The screening/performance will feature within:
Musical Modernism: Will Gregory with BBC Concert Orchestra and Special Guests Sunday 19th February 2017, 3pm Hull City Hall, Queen Victoria Square, Hull HU1 3RQ.

The event is also being recorded by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast on Hear and Now.

Esther Johnson (MA Royal College of Art) is Reader in Media Arts, and an artist and filmmaker working at the intersection of artist moving image and documentary portraiture.
