Professor Daniela Petrelli (Professor of Interaction Design at Sheffield Hallam University) has been invited to give a series of lectures to MA students, PhD students and staff of Politecnico di Milano School of Design this November.

On Monday 06 November, Daniela will be unpacking the relationship between materials and interactive experience in a talk entitled ‘Arguing the case of holistic design

Daniela will also be presenting a workshop with Davide Spallazzo on Wednesday 08 November, entitled ‘Envisioning future interactions‘. The workshop will include Masters students from the MSc Digital & Interaction Design and Hardware & Software Technologies for Design courses, involving students in an imaginative session of hacking an industrial product, with the aim toanswer questions on what interactions will characterise our future and which are the enabling technologies of today.

On Thursday 09 November Daniela will be giving an open seminar to PhD Design students at Polifactory, the maker space of Politecnico di Milano. The seminar, entitled ‘Emotional engagement with heritage‘ will discuss how interaction design can engage visitors of museums and cultural heritage sites both physically and emotionally, while tracking behaviour can enable personalisation of post-visit interactions.

Professor Daniela Petrelli is Professor of Interaction Design at Sheffield Hallam University. Daniela’s current research focuses on novel forms of interaction design that combine digital technology with product design, also known as Tangible and Embedded Interaction. Her investigations into these hybrid digital-physical scenarios are within two different domains: personal memories and cultural heritage.
