Dr. Claire Craig ‘Design Hero’ at the EAD PhD Gathering
Lab4Living’s Dr. Claire Craig was invited as one of four Design Heroes to the PhD gathering at the European Academy of Design conference in Dundee.
The event, organised by Sara Nevay, a PhD student at Dundee, brought together over 60 PhD students from across the globe to discuss their work, to share both insights and experiences of undertaking Design Research.
The afternoon generated lots of lively discussion as participants had the opportunity to use creative media to communicate their PhD on an A5 postcard and then to put questions to the Design Heroes in structured group tutorial sessions.
Claire led the session around method and ethics (much to her delight). The event ended with a final panel discussion with questions from the audience.
Of the experience, Claire said,
‘It was a real honour to take part in the event and to hear about the breadth of exciting research occurring globally across design and to meet the next generation of ‘design heroes’ who will lead research in the future.’
As well as taking part in the PhD Gathering, Claire Craig was co-chair of the Design and Health track, and ran a workshop with partners from Good Health Design, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. Claire was one of four members of the Lab4Living team to participate in the EAD2019 conference.
