Sheffield Business School at Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Business School, part of Sheffield Hallam University, is delighted to be hosting the UFHRD 2022 Conference. The Annual Anniversary International conference is supported by the University Forum for Human Resource Development (UFHRD) and the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD).

The UFHRD conference is the flagship event and the annual meeting place for academic researchers and practitioners working in people management and related fields. This conference holds a unique place in bringing together these two communities to hear about cutting edge research in HR and OD, with active discussion on how it can be applied in scholarship and practice, as we slowly recover from the devastating pandemic.

UFHRD is an interdisciplinary conference covering a wide range of aspects of people management, including leadership management and talent development, coaching and mentoring, inclusion and diversity, global, comparative, and cross-cultural dimensions, learning and development, employee engagement, how learning takes place in SMEs, critical approaches and career development and employability. In all presentations, we set out to share good practice and discuss the practical application of insights to organisational life, helping us to be more evidence-based in our teaching, scholarship and in our organisational practices.

The Conference will also be an interactive platform with several inspirational keynote sessions, plenary sessions, networking activities, celebratory events and much more.

Introducing the UFHRD 2022 conference

Although the conference will be held online, we invite you to take time to get to know Sheffield and all its cultural heritage through our virtual tours and personalised guides of our fabulous City of Steel. Formerly famous for its stainless-steel cutlery, Sheffield is one of the industrial powerhouses of England and is now a rising stage to the UK’s arts and culture scene. The hollowed-out husks of its once mighty factories and foundries now contain galleries, theatres and museums. In terms of work and employment the Sheffield City Region is booming with new industries including the Sheffield City Region plan key sectors*; Health and Wellbeing, Green Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Intelligent Mobility and Transport, Digital, Co-ops and Social Enterprise, Supply Chains (*Source: Sheffield City Region LEP ‘Our Strategic Economic Plan 2021-41’).

In this new era, where the societal impact of our research, teaching and scholarship has never been more important, why not join us to help make a world of difference to people practices with us as collective agents for change. Our vision for this conference is to bring together like-minded people who have a passion for people and professional excellence, who can build effective organisations and HR/OD practices for the future in the post-Covid era.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to the Sheffield Business School in June 2022.
