Planned IT disruption for business continuity testing – Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th January

Following a consultation with all areas of the  University, UEG have agreed that IS&T will carry out a business continuity test of IT services over the weekend of 3rd and 4th January 2015. While this test is in progress, all IT services in the University will be at risk of disruption and a number of services (including Blackboard and shuspace) will be down for periods of time. All IT services are expected to working as normal by 8am Monday 5th January.

If you have deadlines for assessments in Blackboard (such as Assignments, Turnitin submissions, Test attempts, Blogs, Wikis, Discussions) and other systems (such as PebblePad) on Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th January, you should consider whether is is possible to reschedule these for later in the week. This will reduce any anxiety if submissions or attempts cannot be made by students on Saturday 3rd or Sunday 4th January when IT services are unavailable. Also, you should not have deadlines on these dates or during any out-of-office times.

Advice is available for students about the planned disruption.
