Preparing your 2011/12 Blackboard sites

Please note that you should ensure your Blackboard sites for 2011/12 are ready to use and available to students by the start of teaching (nine things to do to prepare your site). In the Bb-support tab in shuspace you will find online resources to support you with preparing your 2011/12 sites and details for how to get support if you need it. Remember that you will need to use a different Blackboard site for each new cohort so you cannot continue to use last year’s sites with a new group of students (instructions on requesting a new module site).

At the start of September each year, the previous year’s modules sites are automatically hidden from Current Sites. This helps keep the list of sites in Current Sites a bit more manageable, and you can still access all your sites by selecting the ‘All Sites’ tab. Where we can we’ve identified ongoing modules and retained them in the Current Sites list, but if a site does disappear that you would like to keep in Current Sites you can override these settings (read more about customising Current/All Sites). Staff and students retain access to past module sites as long as a student who took that module is still enrolled on the course.

Also, please be aware that the shuspace interface will be changing on the 5th of September, including the introduction of four new tabs. There is more information about these changes inside of shuspace itself (see the details for staff of what is changing).
