Did you know that you could batch enrol students onto groups instead of selecting individual names?

Blackboard 9 has introduced some changes to the Groups functionality to make it easier to create groups quickly and efficiently.  For instance, you can create a series of identical groups easily called a ‘group set’.  Students can be allocated to those groups either randomly by Blackboard or by selecting individual group members.  However, many staff don’t know there is another option for enrolling the students onto the group which we have developed at Sheffield Hallam to help quickly enrol large numbers of students onto existing groups.

If you know the student ID numbers for the students you want to enrol (you can get the IDs from SI, the timetable or the Grade Centre), then in a spreadsheet you can match those IDs with the group name in Blackboard.  Uploading that spreadsheet to the Group Tool option in the Control Panel will result in the students being added to the groups quickly.

Read the knowledge base article for complete instructions on how to use the batch enrolment method.
