Impact 2018 Postgraduate Research Conference and Training Sessions

IMPACT 2018 is a conference exploring the impact research makes to society. All doctoral researchers at SHU are invited to participate. All doctoral researchers in the Cultural, Communication and Computing Research Institute (C3RI) must present at IMPACT at least once in their PhD career as it is an essential part of training.

The date of IMPACT 2018 is Thursday 10th May 2018. Further details can be found on the conference’s Eventbrite page here.

If you wish to present at the conference, you must register via the above Eventbrite link. Please submit abstracts by 1pm on 2nd April 2018. Instructions on how to do this can also be found on the above Eventbrite page.

There are two training sessions to help you prepare for IMPACT 2018. We strongly recommend all potential presenters to come to these:

Thursday 15th March 09:00-11:00: Impact Training Session with Alison Honnor (Impact Researcher) and the C3RI Postgraduate Research team. This session will explore research impact, and help you identity how it might be generated in your research. It will also help you to start planning your abstract or to develop it further, as direct feedback on a draft abstract will be offered). To register for this training session, please book via Eventbrite here.

Tuesday 10th April 11:00-13:00: ‘The Confident Presenter’ postgraduate research training session led by David Slack. This session will held to develop your public speaking and presentation skills. Please book via Eventbrite here. Please note that places for this session are limited, with numbers restricted to 20 people only. Places will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
