Design Futures shortlisted for two categories at UK Packaging Awards 2017

Sheffield Hallam University’s packaging design team, Design Futures, are in the running for two distinguished national titles at this year’s UK Packaging Awards – the leading packaging industry awards. Find out more about the shortlists here.

Design Futures are up for ‘Design Team of the Year’ for the wide range of packaging design project work which has been completed over the past 12 months including offering support to local small and medium-sized businesses through the Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP).

Design Futures, which is part of Cultural, Communication and Computing Research Institute (C3RI), are also in the running for ‘Corrugated Online Retail Pack of the Year’ for the their work designing the packaging for local Sheffield start up, Bear Hugs. The unique pack which ‘reaches out to give the opener a hug’ has helped Bear Hugs achieve remarkable business success. The University has provided support to Bear Hugs through both SIP and involvement in the Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RIDO) led Y-accelerator project, which aimed to support individuals, teams or companies looking to get a new business idea off the ground.

The winners will be announced at the awards, held in London on 22 November 2017.
