Penser la muséologie du cinéma: Thinking about cinema museology – Dr Rinella Cere contributes to colloquium and study day at the École nationale des Chartes

Penser la muséologie du cinéma

(Thinking about cinema museology)

Thursday 13 October to Friday 14 October 2022

École Nationale des Chartes

Stéphanie E. Louis, researcher at the Center Jean-Mabillon, organizes the CinEx Lab autumn school entitled “Thinking cinema museology: theory, tools, know-how“, with the support of EUR Translitterae, PG Arts and FIAF-International Federation of Film Archives.

CinEx Lab is a program of international conferences linked to the creation of a database for the history of heritage exhibitions on cinema. The aim is to combine this collaborative documentary tool with a series of theoretical and practical reflexions on sources and potential means to analyse these exhibitions. These are actively involved in the life of museums, in particular as a way of highlighting their collections. Thus, the perspective given to the CinEx Lab to contribute to a critical and plural approach to heritage exhibitions is that of a collective definition of film museology.

Dr Rinella Cere, Reader in Media and Cultural Studies, was invited to give a talk as part of a session entitled Museums and heritage exhibitions of cinema: perspectives on globalisation. Rinella’s talk was titled ‘The serious and the popular’: Changing cultural traditions through film museums and can be viewed online here.
