e-learning diaries: Elijah and Freya

An open diary with a pen and watch resting on it

Based on e-learning diary research we did with students, we have generated a series of profiles which explore the relationship of technology to each student’s learning. This is the last in a series of three blog posts where we summarise the profiles and provide links to them.

Elijah is a 41 year old student who has returned to education after a substantial break.  He is a confident and skilled user of technology, and prefers courses where this is a central component of the curriculum.  He supports himself with technology in the first instance, then looks online for any additional help needed.  Elijah is keen to use technology to enhance his learning experience, particularly communicating with peers and accessing a wealth of resources.  He feels there is a lot of potential in e-learning that staff should take advantage of.  Read more about Elijah.

Our last student profile focuses on Freya, a 24 year old postgraduate student.  She is a skilled user of ICT, who has taught herself how to use specialist software products.  For support she would call upon the Help Desk, tutors or internet forums.  Her course has a large requirement for specialist use of software and she uses technology to complete assignments and manage her studies.  Read more about Freya.
