New in Blackboard: Improved Announcements channel

This article is part of a series of articles explaining the new features and changes that will be introduced as part of the Blackboard upgrade scheduled for 26-28 July 2013.

Based on user feedback we have been able to change the Announcements channel on the Module Home Page.  Now it will display the last ten announcements, no matter how old they are (assuming they are still set to be visible).  Previously announcements would disappear from this channel after 7 days unless individual users changed them.

Announcements will appear in reverse chronological order, with the newest at the top. You can expand an announcement in the channel to see the full text of the announcement using the + button at the left of the announcement, or go to the announcements tool by clicking on the title.

At the bottom of the channel, staff will see a link called ‘create announcement’ which will allow you to create an announcement quickly without having to navigate to a different page.  Students will not see this link.

Both staff and students will see another link at the bottom of the channel called ‘all announcements’ which allow you to jump to the complete list of announcements.
