Scam Alert! Ignore message from Ron Wright about login details

This is a message from IS&T of high importance that we are passing on:

Last night many staff will have received an email apparently from Ron Wright regarding an upgrade to servers and containing a link to a web page asking for login details.

Please DO NOT enter your details in this form under any circumstances as this was a scam.

This is not a University web page and filling it in may lead to fraud or identity theft.

If you have already filled in the form please change your password as soon possible at https://esp.shu.ac.uk/pwm or by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del on a university PC – this will  greatly reduce the chance of your account being abused as a result.

If you have any concerns please contact IT Help on x3333 or at ithelp@shu.ac.uk

Such scam are called phishing scams, and are when a company uses a fake webpage or message to try to trick users into revealing their passwords. Always be suspicious if anyone suggests that an organisation needs you to confirm your login by sending them the details instead of actually logging in.  This is often the sign of a phishing scam.
