University teaching and learning policy key recommendations

  •  Every department has in place a system for, and a record of, annual peer observation of teaching.
  •  Every department meets, at least, the minimum requirements and responsibilities for academic advising.
  •  Full compliance with the Timetabling Policy and annual cycle milestones.
  •  All module Blackboard sites meet, at least, the minimum threshold standards.
  •  All modules to provide clear assessment and marking criteria in advance and ensure these are explained to students.
  •  All to modules to include early assessment and feedback opportunities.
  •  All level 3 and level 4 modules have in-module retrieval available for at least one assessment task.
  •  All assessment feedback to be provided within three working weeks of submission.

To further enhance our learning and teaching provision, the following will also be in place ahead of September 2019:

  •  A single University grade descriptor.
  •  A comprehensive training and implementation plan for the roll-out of the University’s learning analytics system to ensure it is used.
  •  A clear departmental student engagement plan for each level of study.
