Philip Wain, Head of Faculty Professional Services
One of the university’s ten immediate priorities to help deliver its strategy is to develop and implement a new operating model for Professional and Support Services across the University.
Work on Phase 1 of the project started back in May 2017 and is now complete. Phase 2 has now been launched, with a number of all staff briefings, led by Richard Calvert and Libby Wilson, having taken place over the past two weeks looking at this in more detail.
Effectively there are five project areas:
Each project has a senior sponsor who will provide oversight and advocacy for the projects within the framework of the operating model design principles.
These sponsors are:
- Student Services – led by Nuala Devlin, Director of Library and Student Support
- Academic Services – led by Joe Rennie, Director of Registry Services
- Business and Outward Engagement – led by Eileen McAuliffe, Deputy Dean of Sheffield Business School
- Institutional and Leadership – led by Linda Mason, Director of Strategic Planning
- Career Offer – led by Sally Jackson, Interim Director of Human Resources
These projects will be reviewing our current service delivery from a user-centric perspective. They will all follow the same approach – a period of detailed design and specification, a period of build and development, and a period of roll-out and embedding.
Work within these projects is being split into two tranches. The first tranche is being initiated now, with the second tranche initiated in February 2018.
