Things to do in Sheffield #YorkshireDay

I love living in Sheffield, and one of the main reasons why is that I never seem to run out of things to do. As a city, Sheffield offers lots of sociable and exciting options, but it also offers greener and calmer options for when you want some time to think, study or relax with friends.

In this blogpost I’m going to share with you some of my top picks of things to do in Sheffield for various purposes (although you could do them for whatever reason!).

For when I’m with friends

devonshire street cafe• Devonshire Street is the home to quite a few independent shops and places to eat such as MoonKo, Mooch and Vulgar.
Sundaes Gelato is a very central dessert shop on West Street.
The Cabin is a cosy and cute waffle and pancake house which is always busy.
Meadowhall has all of the most popular high street shops and is only a short tram ride out of the city centre!
Lane7 is near the Moor and offers lots of entertainment options including pin bowling, ping pong, batting cages and darts!

For when people visit

• The Winter Gardens and Millennium Gallery are great as they have free entry and the gallery exhibits often change!
The Peace Gardens provide a nice outdoor area to sit with a hot drink and chat.
• I love walking around the city when friends or family visit as it allows them to get a good idea of the city and what’s available. Sheffield has some great street art which is fun to point out along your walk (particularly on Devonshire and Division Street!).

For a date

Lucky Fox burger

• For a fancy meal I enjoy Piccolino’s, a great Italian restaurant in Millennium Square.
• For an instagram-worthy meal head over to LuckyFox on Division Street.
• The Peak District is on Sheffield’s doorstep and provides a great opportunity for a romantic walk in the great outdoors.

For me

• The Moor has been undergoing lots of renovation and has a range of new shops including a Topshop, Monki, Weekday and H&M (it’s also very close to the city campus so could be visited between classes!)
• Gym classes (Sheffield has many gyms including ‘Hallam Active’ run by the University).
• Weston Park is a little further out of the city so is greener and more open than anything in the centre! There’s lots of space for a picnic, to read a book or even spot a few ducks on the pond!

I hope that by sharing some of my favourite things to do in Sheffield, you’ve found somewhere new to visit or explore.

Enjoy!
