University success in the Education Estates Awards 2017

The University has secured four nominations in this year’s Education Estates Awards, which celebrates excellence and achievement in estates and facilities management across the education sector.

The brand new Hertha Ayrton STEM Centre, which opened earlier in 2017, is nominated for Project of the Year, recognising the development of this modern, engaging, collaborative learning environment. The Sheffield Institute of Arts – formerly the Head Post Office – is up for Refurbishment of the Year, acknowledging the transformation  of an iconic city building that now provides a unique sense of place for our arts students and a versatile, innovative public space to celebrate creativity. We are also in the running for the Innovation in Teaching and Learning award, for our work on developing innovative Future Spaces such as Charles Street.

Finally, the team who helped to deliver all these major projects has been nominated for the Estates and Facilities team of the year award. This reflects the fantastic work the team has done over the last 18 months or so, including opening and making operational these three major new buildings whilst also managing some significant changes in the team and the launch of a major staff development programme, “Good to GREAT.”

The awards ceremony is being held on 1 November 2017.
