Terms and Conditions

Eview is a fortnightly e-newsletter sent to all staff on alternate Wednesdays. It carries news and events from around the University as well as exclusive staff offers, competitions, a classified ads section and much more – all presented as ‘clickable’ headlines allowing you to pick and choose what you want to read.

Your contributions to Eview are very welcome. If you have something you would like to see included in a forthcoming issue or have any other comments please email ! eview (in the global address list) or eview@shu.ac.uk

For information on submitting a classified advert, please see below

Eview publication dates 2017-18: there is only one edition in December and April due to the Christmas and Easter Holidays

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST BE SENT THE MONDAY BEFORE PUBLICATION IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED.

We cannot guarantee that any submissions sent after this date will be included.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Eview is changing! From the beginning of next academic year Eview will be replaced by a new communication tool. More details will follow but in the meantime please keep submitting content to the Eview inbox and we’ll make sure all requests are covered in either Eview or its replacement.

University Updates
This section of eview is specifically for University news and events. If you know about a new service or process that you think staff should know about please send us the details. Please note that we cannot include banner images but on occasion we may be able to accomodate small images with a maximum width of 200 pixels.

Submitting a classified advert
Instead of sending your advert details to the eview email address, you must fill in a new form. The link to this will be published in eview and be available on the homepage of the intranet (main menu) and on an automated response every time someone submits something to the eview mailbox.

You will be able to simply enter the details of the item for sale and upload an image. You then press a button to make the ad live on a new database. There is no deadline for submissions, you can post your ad at any time and it will remain live for 30 days or until sold. A moderator will check to ensure your ad is appropriate. If and when you sell your item, you must go back in to the database and delete it.

To list your items for sale, or see what other people are selling now, click the following link: https://www3.shu.ac.uk/classifieds/

*Please note in fairness to all staff we will approve a maximum of 5 submissions at any one time*

The database will appear in eview each time as a link and also on the front page of the staff intranet (on the main menu) so people can go in and browse at any time and potential buyers will contact you in the normal way.

Pets and Animals
Eview can no longer accept any adverts for pet animals as we cannot guarantee their welfare

Food, food related items, consumables and listings containing drug or medicinal claims
Eview cannot accept any adverts for food, food related items, consumables or listings containing drug or medicinal claims as we cannot guarantee their safety for consumption.

General:
The classifieds listings are for staff to advertise personal items they have for sale, properties to let and wanted items. It is free to advertise your items but please note it is against University regulations to sell or attempt to sell via eview, any property belonging to Sheffield Hallam or items that have been purchased via directorate or faculty budgets.

All contributions that are not items for sale, should be sent to ! eview (in the global address list) or eview@shu.ac.uk.

We reserve the right to edit, remove or not include items.

Offers for staff
This section of eview is for specific offers for Sheffield Hallam staff. For items to be listed in the ‘offers for staff’ section of eview, they should:

  • Be specifically for SHU staff.
  • Offer a significant discount, (e.g. 10% or more).
  • Be relevant to the majority of staff.

Staff forwarding offers on behalf of organisations must ensure they obtain the terms and conditions of the offer. The following information should be submitted:

  • Title of offer.
  • Description of offer.
  • Any terms and conditions and valid until date.
  • Contact details/website and details of how to take up the offer.
  • Maximum 150 words.

Please note, that we do not automatically relist offers for staff nor can we promote the same ones indefinitely. This is to ensure that offers are current and that there is a variety at any one time.

We reserve the right to edit all submissions.

What’s On

Any events or activities will be promoted via the What’s On page.  We cannot list commercial services unless they are events or activities that may be of interest to staff.

Adverts for research projects or surveys or to encourage participants to such projects may be accepted following approval of the study by the University Research Ethics Committee. Guidance for pedagogic and Higher Education Research involving SHU staff and/or students by internal or external researchers can be found here.
