Off the Shelf Festival of Words 2017

Off the Shelf has grown into one of the largest literary festivals in the UK, attracting some of the best-known names in literature and media to Sheffield each year. The festival programme is wide-ranging and offers over 200 events for all ages.

The festival runs from 8 – 29 October at venues across the city with a variety of events for all age groups.  Upcoming events include:

Magical Books – Saturday 7 October, 1–4pm

Calling witches, wizards and magical creatures of all ages! Hop on your broomsticks, flying carpets or dragons and join us for a free and spellbinding afternoon celebrating magical books of all kinds. Find out more.

One for the Road: Stuart Maconie and Helen Mort – Thursday 12 October, 8pm

Acclaimed Sheffield poet Helen Mort and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter and author Stuart Maconie have compiled an anthology of contemporary poems creating everyone’s ideal pub crawl. Sup up and enjoy a true literary bar-hop. Book now.

Lighting the Furnace: Sir Hugh Sykes – Friday 13 October, 6pm
