Library and Student Support Services an Introduction

There is a brand new training course available to book on Core Portal that we would like to draw your attention to.

This course is available for all staff but is particularly aimed at new staff as part of their SHU induction and staff who work directly with students, especially those who may have to refer students to the services LSSS has to offer.

It is being run by members of the Library and Student Support Services team so we can provide you with in depth knowledge of the services and processes available to the students who access support.

Aim/Overview: The Library and Student Support Services directorate (LSSS) offers a wide range of services including Disabled Student Support, Student Funding and Access Support, Student Wellbeing, Library Services and International Experience. The aim of this session is to provide participants with a good understanding of the services LSSS has to offer, the support available and where to send students if they need support.

Objectives: By the end of this session participants will have a good understanding of:

  • The services available and what they offer
  • How students access the services
  • Key locations and contact points
  • Where staff and students can find more information about the services

Target Audience: This course is open to all staff and will be particularly useful for student facing staff.

Dates: 24 August and can be booked now via Core Portal.  Another session will be scheduled for September, we will then be running these sessions regularly throughout the year.
