Prestigious grant focused on improving part-time student experience

HWB’s Centre for Leadership in Health and Social Care (CLHSC) has been awarded funding to develop and improve the learning experience for part-time students both within the University and across the higher education sector.

CLHSC’s Stella Jones-Devitt and Ann-Marie Steele have been awarded a Teaching Development Grant of almost £24,000 by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) – the national body for learning and teaching in UK higher education, which provides the funds to stimulate evidence-based research and encourage innovations in learning and teaching.

Stella and Ann-Marie will address issues of effective engagement of part time students via the project Going beyond ‘you said, we did’ approaches to student engagement: developing effective co-design processes with part-time undergraduate health and social care leadership students. Findings from the project will be shared across the HEA network, boosting the profile of the Centre and the University across the higher education sector.

Ann-Marie is keen to link up and network with others within the University who may be interested in addressing issues of effective engagement of part-time students. If you are interested and would like to get in touch please contact A.Steele@shu.ac.uk or phone ext 6516.
