Contacting security control during fire evacuations

On occasion, false alarms at City Campus have resulted in members of staff contacting Security Control to find out whether they should evacuate.

During false alarms staff are asked not to contact Security as calls from members of staff prevent them from establishing the cause of the alarm and arranging for the alarm to be silenced for staff to return to work as quickly as possible.

Please only phone Security if:

  • You are reporting a fire or other emergency, or the cause of the alarm.
  • You are unable to evacuate the building.

The alarm may mean a fire, a gas leak or chemical spill. It also means you MUST evacuate the building.
