Jisc’s Summer of Student Innovation programme awards money and mentoring opportunities to students with either an idea about how technology could improve study or general student life, or a completed product that they would like to pilot within an educational setting. The participants work in small teams to implement their proposed project and, in addition to developing employability skills, such as team working and business planning, the students also retain the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to their work – allowing them to commercially exploit it at the end of the programme.
Applications from students interested in participating are open until 23rd May 2016 and more information can be found on the competition webpages.
