Blackboard will be unavailable from 5pm on Friday 21 June 2019 due to a critical security update. The University constantly monitors and acts on advice/updates from suppliers to ensure the security and performance of all SHU systems and this is part of that work. Unfortunately this particular security update will require a greater period of downtime to install than some past ones.
This update is planned for 21-23 June 2019.
Blackboard will be unavailable to all users from 5pm on Friday 21st June, unavailable Saturday and at risk on Sunday.
MyHallam information pages will remain available during the update, but staff and students will not be able to log in to Blackboard nor access any Blackboard sites. Please do not schedule teaching and learning activities in Blackboard during this time, including online submission of assessments.
We know that there are some teaching programmes which will be affected by the downtime and we apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
As always, we will strive to minimise any downtime. If you have student work to mark and wish to continue marking during the downtime, consider downloading any student work submitted online prior to the update commencing and adding the feedback in Blackboard once the update is complete.
If you have any support needs related to Blackboard please contact your Faculty TEL Team.
