The call for innovation in mobile learning has yielded a set of exciting proposals from academic staff across the university.
These proposals will provide a testing ground for ideas about how mobile technologies can improve the student experience of learning, whether in the classroom, during independent study, on placement or during collaborative activities. Some case studies focus on specific aspects such as reflection and feedback and others focus on particular contexts.
The projects will explore the potential of tools such as microblogging, polls, QR codes and media handling, and provide insights into student use of different devices and connection networks.
The proposals demonstrate a variety of approaches to action research from academic staff keen to experiment with their practice and share back their findings to others. Some individuals are refining techniques that they’ve already tried before. Others are trying something for the first time.
So towards the end of the semester we’ll share fuller details of each case study on the blog as they come to completion. There will also be opportunities to hear first-hand accounts at faculty or SHU-wide events.
