Internet Explorer 9 and Blackboard

Recently the latest version of the Internet Explorer browser (IE9) was released by Microsoft.  IE9 is not fully compatible with Blackboard, so you may encounter some errors if you try using it to access Blackboard.  Therefore we are recommending that staff and students not upgrade their version of IE on their personal computers yet.  We expect this to be resolved by July when we upgrade.

  1. As a quick note, if you have already installed Internet Explorer 9, then your best bet is to enable compatibility mode, as this fixes many of the problems when using Blackboard. You can also use an alternate browser such as Firefox 3.

  2. compatible with Blackboard -Can you list few example that will not work in Bb.

How do you enable compatibility mode in IE9.

    Thanks

    • There are a variety of issues being reported by other institutions, including problems when using multiple tabs, difficulty loading dropdown menus, problems inside the Grade Centre, and being unable to reorder content. However other users have reported not encountering the same difficulties, so they seem to be dependent upon combinations of browser/system/Blackboard version. As such we are recommending that staff and students not upgrade to IE9 at this time.

Microsoft provides some instructions on how to enable compatibility mode in Internet Explorer.
