You will probably have noticed that shuspace’s appearance has changed, and that the interface inside your Blackboard sites is different now because we’ve upgraded to Blackboard 9. For many of you this will not be a surprise as over 40% of regular Blackboard users took advantage of early access to Blackboard 9 to preview the system and learn the new interface.
For staff that do not yet understand how to use Blackboard 9 but who actively use Blackboard with students over the summer, we are running some hands-on practical sessions the week after the upgrade if you want this type of support. These sessions will focus on getting you up to speed with doing typical Blackboard tasks using the new Blackboard 9 interface. There are also other sessions scheduled throughout July to help with preparing your 2010/11 sites and refreshing your e-learning practice.
There is a wealth of other support options for Blackboard 9: the Bb-support tab in shuspace is the best place to go to find e-learning support. There are video tutorials and guides explaining the key changes, a self-help knowledge base of step-by-step instructions on how to do almost everything in Blackboard 9, and a phone number and web form you can use to get support.
Your 2010/11 sites will be imported to shuspace over the next week, so that you can continue to prepare them for the next academic year. All of the sites should be imported by 12 July at the latest.
I’m booked into a BB training course. Will it address how to access my remote desktop from my iPhone ?
The remote desktop is a separate software product from Blackboard, so it will not be covered in any of the e-learning sessions. I am unsure if the remote desktop can be accessed via an iPhone, it is best to contact Advisory on x3333 about this.
Next year we will be introducing a mobile learning Blackboard product which should allow some additional access to Blackboard via mobile devices, including the iPhone, beyond the existing built-in browser. More information on this will come later.
